New global markets are emerging, bringing with them unprecedented opportunities for accountants to fast-track their careers in some of the most exciting parts of the world.

Here are my current top three hotspots for those seeking adventure and career development off the beaten track.

Kazakhstan, the ninth largest country in the world, is enjoying an economic boom on par with China and Russia. Large multinational companies are setting up in abundance and there are huge needs for financial services and tax skills. It’s not uncommon for a newly qualified to make partner within five years.

New Zealand has had a steady period of economic growth, with numerous opportunities for recently qualified accountants. The country is also renowned as an outdoor playground, guaranteeing a fantastic work/life balance.

Romania is set to grow following admission to the EU in January. With most firms likely to double in size over the next five years it provides an excellent opportunity to be a leader of the future.
